Principles First—But Always Focused on What Works for Nebraska

By Jon Capps, Candidate for Nebraska Legislature – District 38

In today’s politics, too many people confuse winning the debate with solving the problem. In the real world, that doesn’t work. If your tractor’s broken down, you don’t argue about whose fault it is — you fix it and get back to work.

That’s how I believe Nebraska’s Legislature should operate: rooted in strong principles, but always focused on real-world results.

My core values aren’t negotiable:

  • The Constitution is our guidebook.

  • Limited government is the best government.

  • Nebraska’s sovereignty and rural way of life come first.

But within those guardrails, the only thing that matters is what works for our families, farms, and communities.

Here’s my promise to District 38:

  1. Every Policy Must Put Nebraskans First If a bill benefits outside interests at the expense of Nebraska’s citizens, I’ll fight it. If it strengthens our communities, I’ll support it — no matter whose idea it was.

  2. Protect Freedom While Solving Problems We can fix roads, lower property taxes, and improve schools without expanding government control or eroding individual rights.

  3. Use Common Sense, Not Partisan Games I’ll work with anyone who’s willing to focus on results — but I won’t compromise conservative principles for political theater.

In Clay, Nuckolls, Webster, Franklin, Harlan, Phelps, Furnas, and Red Willow counties, we value faith, family, hard work, and freedom. Those are the values that will guide every vote I cast — and the measure of success will always be the same: Did it work for Nebraska?

I’m not running to score political points. I’m running to protect our values and get results for our people.
