What If We Focused Less on Politics—and More on What Works for Rural Nebraska?

If you spend any time on social media or cable news, you’d think the only question that matters is, “Who’s right?” We’ve turned politics into a sport where our side has to win every point, every round, every news cycle.
But in the real world — in our eight counties here in District 38 — what matters is not who’s right in the argument. It’s what works in the outcome.
When you’re running a farm, you don’t care whether the guy at the parts counter is a Republican or a Democrat. You care if he can get you the part you need before the rain hits. When you’re sitting on the school board, you don’t care about political talking points — you care if the kids are actually learning.
Too often in Lincoln, the debates are about scoring political wins, not solving problems. And the result? We get big speeches, but little action.
Here’s my approach:
Measure by Results, Not Rhetoric If a bill doesn’t make life better, easier, or more affordable for Nebraskans, it’s not worth passing. It’s that simple.
Listen Locally, Act Locally The best ideas come from the people who live and work here — not from bureaucrats in Lincoln or lobbyists in D.C. I’ll bring your solutions to the Legislature, not someone else’s agenda.
Work Across the Aisle Without Compromising Principles Common ground doesn’t mean giving up on core values. It means finding ways to deliver for Nebraskans even if the other guy sees the world differently.
Our challenges — from high property taxes to keeping young families in our towns — aren’t “Republican” problems or “Democrat” problems. They’re Nebraska problems. And I believe we’ll solve them faster when we spend less time keeping score and more time fixing what’s broken.
If you want a state senator who will focus on what works instead of playing political games, I’d be honored to earn your vote.
