BLUE HILL, NE — Jon Capps, an Army veteran, business leader, and “Nebraska First” conservative, has officially filed to appear on the ballot as a candidate for the Nebraska Legislature in District 38.
With his filing complete, Capps formally enters the race committed to bringing real-world experience, constitutional leadership, and accountability to Lincoln on behalf of rural Nebraskans.
“I’ve officially filed because Nebraska needs leaders who understand the limits of government, respect the Constitution, and are willing to stand up for the people they represent,” Capps said. “This campaign is about service, not politics as usual.”
Capps brings more than 30 years of leadership experience spanning the U.S. Army, the private sector, and community service. A certified IT systems architect and business consultant, he has worked with major institutions on complex systems, security, and infrastructure—experience he says is critical as Nebraska faces growing challenges related to government transparency, fiscal responsibility, and election integrity.
If elected, Capps will focus on defending constitutional rights, cutting wasteful spending, providing legitimate property tax relief, strengthening Nebraska’s agriculture economy, securing elections, and investing in rural infrastructure.
Capps currently serves as Commander of American Legion Post 176 and is a member of the Nebraska Farm Bureau, Nebraska Cattlemen, and the NRA. He is a strong advocate for school choice, domestic energy, and limited government.
“With my filing complete, the work continues,” Capps added. “I look forward to earning the trust of voters across District 38 and fighting for Nebraska values in the Legislature.”
